When we use energy, it doesn't just disappear, it becomes something else. Of course, it doesn't always become something that we can actually use, but it is not simply destroyed. Ultimately, most all of the energy we have on our planet comes from the Sun. Today we explored how we (mankind) harnesses the energy of the sun through the water cycle to light our lightbulbs. Check out the great documentary below about the building of the Three Gorges Dam in China and research the concept of the Conservation of Energy.
In order to get paid for the work we do, we have to actually move something. On a job, you will be paid to complete tasks that an employer has set before you. Once you complete that task, you are paid with money or some other sort of compensation. At school, your teachers give you tasks to complete and you are paid by being given a grade or points. When you earn money at your job, or earn enough points at school, you are given more freedom to do the things that you want to do. The harder and smarter that we work, the more freedoms we can have in our lives. Of course, I always say that the hardest working students in my classes are the ones that flunk every assignment given to them. It takes a tremendous amount of work and energy to ignore me all class period long! ; )
We began our study of the different concepts of Energy. Today we focused on what energy is, the ability to do work, and what it means to us.
We completed the test review and finished our discussing our test on Newton's Laws. The test review is below as well as the key. Good luck and study hard!
