What is Physics?Physics is often described as the study of matter and energy. It is concerned with how matter and energy relate to each other, and how they affect each other over time and through space. Physicists ask the fundamental questions how did the universe begin? how and of what is it made? how does it change? what rules govern its behavior?
We will be using this year to study not only physics, but we will be using physics to learn how to be better learners. We will be using classroom investigation to understand why the phenomena we witness everyday occurs the way that it does. Learning is a growth process and we will be growing all year long. The beginning of the course will deal with some of the basics of physics and some of the mathematical tools and scientific processes we use to describe and explain phenomena. After we feel good about the basics, the students will choose which direction we go. There will four projects that the students will have to complete to demonstrate the knowledge and experience they have learned all year. |
