Conduct the online simulation lab below. Look back the our website to help you out with your worksheets. Homework 6 will be next class. Click on the link below to access the simulation. Fill out the Word file lab and submit it to my Teacher Inbox on the school's server. PHET-Forces and Motion-Basics
Today you took your first test. I will post the grades on Power School after we look at the test the next day after the test.
With the official/unofficial poll that I took last class, it was determined that we needed to work more on how to calculate slope and the concept of momentum. I have found some good videos for you to take a look at as well as a really great physics website that I refer to constantly. Take a look at all of the attachments, try your best on the review sheet, check your answers on the key and come to next class prepared to ask me questions. Viel spass! The Physics Classroom
Today we used a constant velocity car to determine the width of a room. You were introduced to the lab report format that you will be using for the year. The powerpoint presentations attached is Columbia High Schools definition of the Scientific Method. It also has good information about each step of the process and definitions. Refer to it often while you are creating your labs. When constructing an experiment, correctly identifying the variables can be very difficult. The videos below do a good job of identifying independent and dependent variables. Your lab report is due on Unit One Test Day. Please ask me lots of questions as the lab is worth 50 points.
Today we FINALLY got to play with the cars and timers. We had Homework 3 and went over the Graphing Linear Motion worksheet. We discussed the craziness that is the unit for momentum and the conservation of momentum law. Viel spass!
Now you have a reason to use all of the those wonderful graphing skills that you developed in Algebra. Pay attention to what the slope of what the graph means.
